Our Story

Plain and Fancy Caterers has faithfully served the Piedmont Triad Area since its establishment in 1977. In August of 2022, Plain and Fancy was purchased by then Executive Chef, Spencer Wright, and his Culinary Institute of America Alum brother, Dan. Combined, they have over 40 years of culinary experience. Plain and Fancy Caterers now operates as Wright Brothers Catering Group.

Wright Brothers Catering Group offers full-service catering for both small and large events and gatherings. Birthday parties, baby showers, corporate lunches, and weddings – we’ve done it all! We strive to incorporate innovation in our work to create unique, memorable events. Our chefs prepare everything in-house using only the finest ingredients. You will eat with your eyes first as their beautiful displays capture your attention.

Our Chefs

Spencer

After growing up in multiple cities across the world, Spencer developed a love for all cuisines. Spencer’s experience on private yachts spearheaded his career into managing large scale catering and high-end restaurant operations. Beginning his role as Executive Chef at Plain and Fancy in 2019, Spencer always dreamed of owning his own business. Spencer was excited to join hands with his brother, Dan, to purchase Plain and Fancy when the opportunity arose in 2022. Spencer is always up for a challenge, his attention to detail and clear passion for all things culinarian will be sure to exceed even the most demanding expectations.

Dan

After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in 2001, Dan moved to Key West where he worked at some of the island’s best restaurants before taking on the role as executive chef aboard luxury yachts. In 2021, Dan decided it was time to set some roots and moved close to his brother Spencer to join the culinary team at Plain and Fancy. After a year and a half, the opportunity arose to purchase the company. Dan looks forward to creating unique menus and providing the same level of service as he has to all his customers as they celebrate their events with Wright Brothers Catering Group.
